EDITOR’S NOTE: Cannot See but Feel

afb82-0008Thailand is a small country rich in happiness and wellness. It has bountiful lands for producing quality rice to supply to people locally and overseas. It has good water management to support agriculture and assist in preventing floods or droughts. It has plentiful tilapia in most waters and shelf stable milk in most areas to ensure quality protein for Thais. And Thailand also has temperate plants grown in the mountains to replace the days of growing opium.

Thailand’s fertility and much more would not have possible without the country’s greatest father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Besides our own fathers, Thais shared him as the one who looked after his very big home and his nearly 70 million children for the last 70 years. With his unconditional love, he sacrificed his comfort in the royal palace to develop every dimension of the country and meet people in every corner to discover the sufferings and the happiness.

Everyone knows how much the king dedicated to Thailand and the efforts he went through to develop our great nation. Yes, he was tired but his desire to enhance his peoples’ well-being always overpowered his fatigue and he knew deeply that the troubles his people faced could not wait. It has been 70 years of peace and prosperity under the guidance of His Majesty the King. What a blessing to have such a long-reigning monarch who cared so intensely about his country.

Ultimately, the worst news that we never wanted to hear became true on the evening of 13 October 2016. The passing of His Majesty the King shattered Thai hearts into millions of pieces. It was the hardest night in memory as people all around Thailand had to experience such sorrow and tears. It seemed the world would be a lonely place where we couldn’t spend our lives under his mercy anymore; however, what he did for us and taught us will truly last forever. King Bhumibol Adulyadej initiated many things for us and now it’s our turn to join together and continue his legacy. With this outlook, I believe that we can still feel him in every moment and use his guidance to live our lives in his honor, even though we cannot see him.

Asia Food Beverage Thailand would like to offer its sincere condolences following the passing of His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej. We would like to take this opportunity to promise that we will do the best on our part to help strengthen the Thai food industry as he taught us. Even during this time of sadness, together we will build a sustainable future for the industry under his Sufficient Economy.
